My paintings and photographs are deeply rooted in nature:  a flower, a leaf, a tree or a particular landscape.  These subjects remind me of our garden in Switzerland where I grew up.

Trained as a draftsman and textile designer, I developed a fairly tight hand.  However, unlike in textile design, where one has specific boundaries, such as color, subject, and size limitations to create a pattern, in Fine Art I find a much greater freedom to express my own ideas and interpretations.

I love to take close-up photographs of flowers to capture their "personality", then painting them in vivid colors, not trying to be too realistic here; hopefully conveying to the viewer a peaceful aspect of nature.
